Van Halen Days (I love you, Kev) I woke one morning to find you sleeping on my couch beside the girl I was in love with Still…the perfect southern host I introduced myself and fixed us all breakfast Next thing I knew you were at my heels a hungry stray your heart so full of need You were the hottest thing in leather during the long haired rockin’ Van Halen days You on stage, camera in my hands your mouth tight against the microphone my heart so confused by it all I didn’t so much love you as I loved being seen with you You didn’t so much love me as your ego needed fed by me yet here we are all these years later friends I really don’t want to believe that either of us has grown up just that we’re not quick to throw away devotion when we know it no longer comes at the whim of youth the edge of beauty denial of truth fear of uncertainty I love you, Kev You love me, too We both finally understand it. ________________________________________ Speak when you are angry--and you'll make the best speech you'll ever regret...Laurence J. I love your imperfections ... I love your everything ... |

David Lee or Sammy? David Lee, I hope. Leather, yes, but let's not forget the spandex. More to your poem than the title suggested. |
