(Once again with the anon muse's assistance - Muse in italiics) The Club - nearly deserted seemingly so The ceiling smoky still a hazy glow The drummer’s snares left a whiskey beat The bass still in time left notes replete As the sax quietly in the bluesy night Wailed plaintive notes tugging heartstrings On the whiskey-soaked night all ghosts out of sight He’d remained for the sounds memories did abound Backing horn on the keys For a few still pleased She’d stopped for the phone He watched her fiddle her keys As she sought some coffee Smiled at her knees To get back on the road He noted too: eyes flecked with gold As he poured her a cup she peered over the brim She wondered then how it would be If all night she’d be up Is this chemistry Yet the wail of the horn then brought her up short And the blue of his eyes yes, the trip she'd abort The first duty of love is to listen. |

I would hesitate to guess, nah,...you and your muse? You are both having way too much fun with one pen, there! What a write! |

Very nice, Wil. Felt I was there, heard all, saw all, felt red-faced and turned and got in my car- I hate missed opportunities. Panne [This message has been edited by Panne447 (edited 04-18-2001).] |
