I look at the sights from your big easy chair, The same ones you saw, when you used to sit there. Mount Baker still looms, she hasn't blown her top, As you'd tease me she would, 'til I begged you to stop. Is the grass just as green, as it greened up for you? I'm trying to maintain it, as you used to do. You know it is hard, for we shared all the chores, This light job was mine, and that tough one was yours. Both my son and yours have now joined you up there; And I sit alone in your big easy chair. I'm glad you've been spared, the bad times I've been through. Your heart would have broken, as God surely knew. So He took you first, and then called them one by one; And I'm left to cope 'til my race too is run. I hope that you're proud as you look down on me And this place that you loved and wanted to be. I've planted more trees and more flowers and shrubs, And I've fought with the moles and the slugs and the grubs. When I've weeded as much as my poor back will bear, I go in and curl up in your big easy chair. Joyce Johnson, 2000 |

Joyce, Joyce, Joyce. You have written a heart-wrenching poem. I see it was from 2000. Are things any better now? Even back then, you seemed to have your life in control. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. It is a beautiful "letter" to the one who has gone before you. Many hugs, ME |

Oh Joyce, you have written of many trials here. They are never easy, yet He doesn't give us more than we can bear for He knows our limitations. Each lesson is meant to strengthen our hearts and our minds so that we may face another day. There is a deep sadness to your words. Although at the end, there was a sense of peaceful comfort. Great writing. ![]() All writing comes |

Dear Friends, Don't worry about me. I am fine. I have lost a lot but Ihave had so much to lose. And I still have many blessings. My husband who the poem is for, died in 1995. His son died in 1997 and mine in 1999. Just 18 months between each death, so it was a bumpyride for awhile. I still miss them every day, but I have such good memories and that is what I try to write about. Love, Joyce |

Oh Joyce, this is such a beautifully sorrowful piece, no words that I could say could bring this personal outpouring of emotion justice. Sincerest hugs to you, my friend~ Take care, Melissa~ |

You touched my very heart Joyce, you express such loss so clearly. This brings many emotions to the surface for me, some that i keep a certain distance from, yet need to feel on occasion. Beautiful writing as always. |

Your losses are so well expressed in this poem. Few tug at my heart like this one did. Your courage and strength is quite apparent. Mike |

This is a very touching piece, but not in the saddening sense...actually made me smile that you seem to find a reassurance in death. When we are not saddened by death, it is easier to preserve clear memories of the one who has passed...your memories are very clear. You are luckier than most ![]() ![]() ~Becky~ |

It takes a strong heart to share grief....but once shared, is picked up with love by those who know.... we know.... |

The fact that you curl up in the comfort of your memories means they are happy ones. *S* So this has sadness and strength... very well written! |

Dear Friends. Thank you all for understanding my meaning. It is importanht to create happy memories, while they are still with you. These memories will bring comfort and peace if you lose them. Love to all. Joyce |

This is so sweet and sad. I'm glad you have the good memories. Thanks for sharing this. Speak when you are angry--and you'll make the best speech you'll ever regret...Laurence J. Peter |
