Bid Me “Billy Coup”
Virginia Salter

dishes, dishes
little fishes swimming to the sea
bubbles, bubbles
magic scrubbles, floating, makes me sneeze

ornery villains
chillin’, spillin’, messing with my tea
splatter, pratter
dirty platter won’t you dance with me

the day has rushed its life right by
and bid me “Billy Coup”
drying up the flowers’ drinkin’
coating land with dew

to the left
to the right, down the path to go
meadow larks are singin’ light
waving off the snow
