I took four books of poetry, from the town library shelf; Settling down contentedly, to quite enjoy myself. Leafing lightly through the pages, seeking favorite poems, Smiling when I found them, in these heavy, leather tomes. Then as I read further and on less familiar ground, I became a bit uneasy at some verses I had found. Reading in confusion, and becoming more perplexed. I'll just have to admit it, I was nothing less than vexed. Stumbling on some writings of the noted Gertrude Stein, I knew at once, this lady was just messing with my mind. Reading collected lyrics of Edna St. V. Millay, I found proof this brilliant poet, wasn't brilliant every day. And then there are the poems of favorite Robert Frost, Found a few among his pages that could just as well been lost. So I guess what I am saying about geniuses and such, Is that even they have days they are not geniuses very much. by: Joyce (This is all meant in fun.) I liked this a lot Joyce. I have to agree, although some well known poets of the past have written brilliant poems, not all their work falls into that category. There's hope for us! Betty Lou Hebert |

indeed. . . I'm sure that for every poem that they've written that we've found inspiring or superb. . . there have been plenty that found the trash can. . . or the floor. . . thanks Joyce!!! ![]() --------------------------------------------------------- To the world, you may only be one person. I picked me up a book "World Poetry" - a delight! started reading late one eve in softest shade of light and as I read of nature and love gone wrong one night I also read some history as poetic pens took flight and I thought to me, just then why, can I think I see? that those these poems aged 100 years I see similar, in Passions in Poetry! For the mood's not changed, I swear and simply put, the geniuses here all write in similar flair! Joyce...when I try to add verse to a poet's penning...you KNOW I loved it! A keeper! |

The "geniuses" wrote thousands of poems and are normally remembered by only one or two. Creating that ONE poem....and writing the thousands it took to get there,,,is what makes them geniuses. Everyone has that capability.... this is very clever, Joyce ![]() |

Thank you everyone for reading and commenting. It was just an insight I had as I was reading. These people we revered were just like us, with their ups and downs. And Sunshine thank you for adding your verses to mine. I'm honored. Joyce |
