* a challenge to use the first line Only Tapping It was a dark and stormy night, I fear within, that kind. I grabbed the quilt to cower with, As loneliness joined my mind. I saw him through the glass, He shadowed me this night. I heard the tapping louder still, But answered none, in fright. The latch was left undone, I heard the window's lift. The warmth had drained, my face now pale, In fearful thoughts, I sift. What must I do right now To calm my beating heart? My fears kept rising to my throat, No words from mouth would part. A silent scream was heard, All breath came drifting out. Until his kiss of death touched lips There was no sound, no shout. I'm buried in my thoughts, A life has gone from me. It was a dark and stormy night, A death, it was to be. Not of the blood and gore kind, But personality. Tomorrows change will bring new life, I'm hopeful, this I'll see. It was a dark and stormy night, Getting use to them, am I.
