the poet's words are fearful
fearful of the light
they search through tunnels
dark
for a place to hide
the feelings rage in agony
poisoned by such silence
no outlet
no way to stop the violence
her heart is pinned against
a wall
beaten as a slave
unmerciful reality
chains her to their graves...

I must agree...reality shows no mercy whatsoever to anybody...not very often anyway...

A poet's words can definitely be fearful of light. You certainly express that here, dgvarner.

Hello, dgvarner. I enjoyed this piece. Takes the reader and fellow poet into the painful side that sometimes haunts those of us who write dark poetry. Well done.
