"Cry, "Havoc!" and let slip the dogs of war." [Shakespeare, Julius Caesar, III,i] overture....... refugees along the road babies bear a heavy load dead or dying tales are told to this fragile human fold as mental mines explode in the arms of sorrow perfume rivers running mud holy bridges dripping blood monks or nuns are under hood praying for a greater good cryptic verses understood Lord, who are we to follow? rockets rip in flashing flight tracers strip across the night crippled cries in echoed fright pleading for salvation's light nightmares into daylight dream dying through the living scream righteousness, what does it mean? human sacrifice it seems cannot rush tomorrow requiem....... Surviving for our sins the dreaded work begins raindrops entwining limbs in serpentine conformity awaiting body bags and tags mothers holding folded flags honor guards in rags load a seething hemorrhage of deformity as distant crescendos grow to a crying sky's refrain lonely soaking soldiers know tears of war fall to earth as rain epilogue....... through the rain trudge ordained warriors plastic profaned phantoms of the fog fire and ice have tempered honor's sword and leashed once more a rabid "devil dog" "I hate quotes, they suck!" |

Exactly!! Could NOT have said it better! Makes me think and worry about this China/American thing going on at present *sigh*. We know, we have learned, but when will the war machines learn?? Isis *War produces one thing - Cemetaries. And in cemetaries there are no enemies!* |

fantastic! Love your style: short verses full of strong images with a hint of the biblical. I especially liked the third verse. You remind me a little of William Blake. Have you ever read him? |

Thanks, Kodak. I've read a little of Blake's work. "The rose, like the cactus flower, protects herself with thorns. We however, impale ourselves on their beauty." |
