Once I had someone Deep in my heart She filled me with joy And inspired my art I thought I found love Like no other you see But that wasn’t the case Please listen to me I was merely her toy For sexual use And my heart was the victim Of her thoughtless abuse All that I am And what I could be Did not mean a damn Please listen to me She cared so little For how I did feel Or for the fact That my love was so real And all of the signs That one plainly could see Amounted to nothing Please listen to me As I read your words They brought it all back The heart wrenching sadness And anger I stack Deep in my soul Which I share now with thee For you’re not alone Please listen to me They’ll take and they’ll take Until you’ve nothing to give And then you’ll forsake The very life that you live No matter that which you do Or how much you plea They’ll be true not to you Please listen to me I know that pain All too well The torturous love That puts you through hell What you should do To set your heart free Is find someone new Please listen to me Because if you don’t You’ll be trapped in despair By a false hearted lover Who never will care Anything for you Or the visions you see What I now say to you Please listen to me G. This was inspired by a piece posted by Paula Finn called "I Still Love You". It triggered certian emotions in me due to the fact that I too was in a similar situation. So this is my reply/advice to her and any other person who is in the boat, so to speak. Do yourselves a favor and get out of that, because it will only cause you pain and drag you down. And, odds are that the person who you are with won't even care about the pain they are putting you through because they are getting what they want as long as you allow them to and sadly that's all that matters to people like that. DON'T BE AN ENABLER PEOPLE!!! Ok, enough advice for one day. I just hope by my posting this rather angry piece some of you out there learn from my mistake and don't fall into that trap. It's simply not worth the pain that only you will feel in the end. I've grown past that pain now, but the scar remains none the less. But I guess one could say that I'm wiser for the wear, ya know. Do take care all and remember...THIS IS JUST A POEM...I'm not that angry/depressed anymore nor will I waste any more time on being that way. And neither should any of you. Again, take care all! G P.S. Thank you Paula once again for the inspiration and good luck! ;-) Regret not that which you have done, Rather that which you haven't [This message has been edited by G. A. I wish everyone who is in this situation would emblazon these words in their heart. Being used is not healthy - and being blind to it is so sad. Wish there was a way to send this anonymously to a couple of my friends!! Excellent poem sir. |

Sharon - you could send it as a pretend-FWD! This is powerful - and full of pain...but also the awareness of learning and lessons. Horrible things - lessons.. thanks for posting that - it needs to be read... ![]() |

A very true lesson. Very well written. "When people show you who they are, believe them" |
