in a makeshift unprepared he sees the eyes she lays exposed, cold no longer breathing or needing warmth he discovers her next to him isolated in the body, alone his hand a fragile trembling, he touches the face, her face without direction or confirmation he knows lean, silver, and gold the years they shared, he makes the arrangements this love he loved but never as he should is gone he separates the smiles caressing memories in his hand, a malaise as he dazes at lost possibilities the depression is a minion sobs racking an aging body filled with regret Life is an adventure to be experienced |

So sad, the emptiness and all he feels now. Always these sort of poems affect me more. Sensitively and beautifully written. Reminds me of the Aussie song.. Hey there's not a cloud in sight, It's as blue as your blue eyes, And I thought that it would rain - The Day You Went Away.... Excellent poem...but oooo so sad. What makes it even sadder is, this happens way too often. This is the sort of writing that makes one think about those loved ones who are still with us, and how we should tell them & SHOW THEM how we feel NOW....before they are gone. Thank you! |

Just wonderful...melancholy at its finest... he separates the smiles caressing memories in his hand, a malaise as he dazes at lost possibilities loss is one of the finest educators we have, sadly... What a tragic, yet beautiful poem. It's amazing how much we take for granted in this life, isn't it? Sheila |
