GOING HOME It came to me one night with no warning As I sat in my bed, arms around my knees And all I once thought so well rooted was torn loose and set to float upon the breeze Innocent no more with this revelation of just what I was meant to be And the darkness just fell away Like the parting of a gosamer veil Moonlight on still water Like a road to lead me on and I'm going home Like a thief of old, hiding in some grotto The truth it went unobserved where it lay But now its clear, plain as a mountain And I'll never let it get away again And it's a joy, born of lamentation The tears are gone, forgotten in the night And I can't change, the way I was born Somethings are just carved in stone I'm my mother's daughter And I've tallied up the cost and I'm going home There's a price to pay while we disemble And the chance is lost if we should delay The truth will out, open wide the closet And let the sunshine in on the musty bones Maddy |

No place like it Maddy. The line (joy, born of lamentation ) is truly inspirational. Maggie |

Glad you liked it Maggie. The poem isn't so much about physically going home so much as about accepting oneself and one's family for who they are, and making one's peace with them...however ill-fated that attempt may be. Maddy |

Maddy . . . this is beautiful writing so insightful into yourself And I can't change, the way I was born Somethings are just carved in stone I'm my mother's daughter And I've tallied up the cost and I'm going home Beautiful xxoo |

Oh the pain we go through to finally find our destination. It's a hard road to go, but it seems you have found your place of belonging, and peace, solace after much lament. God Bless, and know you are not alone in this. I'm sure alot of us can relate. Many Shara @-->-- Of sound, and speech let all lift the hearer! |

Thanks both for your comments, I am glad you liked it. This poem has as many different meanings as it does readers it seems, I guess we are all metphorically "Going Home" in one way or another. Maddy |
