Etched in the illusion of time

0 posted 2003-07-01 11:19 AM

Darkness
I seek my refuge in
When light is scarce
My soul can emerge
In the cloak
That falls over me

I can dance
With the moonlight
No one watching
Countless pairs of eyes
Eliminated
From my wake
I can just fall away

Let the melody flow
The music of darkness
Sweet notes trilling
In blanketed air
No stars to mute it
No light to stop it
In the night's
Misty glare

No one knows
Who I am
The darkness swaths me
Masking my face
I am blind to the world
I know not
Of any other souls
Who come to escape

How I hate
When the light binds me
I desire freedom
To let my true soul fly
No cares can restrain
Or hold me down
As long as I have
The darkness
To hide my ways

I fear the day
And the world
All around me
The way they stare
It frightens me
That's why I run
To my darkness
It is
And forever shall be
My secret place

For saints have hands that pilgrims' hands do touch,
And palm to palm is holy palmers' kiss.--"Romeo and Juliet"
