Tapping The night wears on, low and cold No candle burns in my window. I am draped in darkness, cloaked In fear as I listen to the tapping. Tip, Tap, Pit, Pat Against the shingled roof. Tap, Tip, Pit, Pat Against the shingled roof. From the time the sun touched horizon I locked the doors, windows barred And hid within the great armchair In fear as I listen to the rapping. Tip, Tap, Pit, Pat Against the shingled roof. Tap, Tip, Pit, Pat Against the shingled roof. May God see me this dreary night And save my soul, as I repent my sins For surely ‘tis the devil now At my window tapping. Tip, Tap, Pit, Pat Against the shingled roof. Tap, Tip, Pit, Pat Against the shingled roof. My mind screams “Surrender!” as this Night wears on low and cold And I hear it at my pane now At my window rapping. Tip, Tap, Pit, Pat Against the window pane. Tap, Tip, Pit, Pat Against the window pane. Creak, crack, window split God has forsaken me. Inside my house, my heart, my mind In fear I hear him tapping. Tip, Tap, Pit, Pat Against my tattered soul. Tap, Tip, Pit, Pat Against my tattered soul. Joann Renee' Muszynski 2/15/01 With the word, I am mighty, with the pen I am free.. dragonpoe |

Hi Dpoe, I enjoyed reading this. Reminds me of another Poe(Edgar Allen). Ya had me on the edge waiting...waiting...waiting... Panne |

Spooky and eerie the way you used the repetitive lines. Well done! Kethry Those of us who refuse to risk and grow get swallowed up by life. Patty Hansen. |

Very powerful piece. Nicely written. The repitition went alone perfectly. Good job. --Marie It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives. |

The tapping is that of a white cane, for death is blind, and takes whom he can find. Good Poe-ness, thanks. "I hate quotes, they suck!" |

The pain and unending torment leaps from your words, I relate very much so. Excellent expression, flow, rhyme, repetition of key phrases and Edgar Allan "Poe-esque" style~ Take care, Melissa~ |
