A dirty little secret That’s all I’ll ever be She shares her love Throughout the world But none she gives to me A dirty little secret I bore my soul with pen But my heart grew cold For the stories I’ve told When she gave them back again A dirty little secret A password on a screen I gave her the sun The moon the stars But nothing did this mean A dirty little secret Oh God what can I do With all the things I’ve done and said Nothing will get through A dirty little secret Never will she call I’m just a toy That she’ll destroy But it's for her I fall A dirty little secret A relic of her past Consigned to distant Memories Which fade away so fast A dirty little secret To me no love she’ll show She says I mean The world to her But this I’ll never know A dirty little secret That’s all I am you see Though I’ve done my best And surpassed the rest She never will love me G. Nice poem. I like your descriptions of being gently discarded rather than loved in a relationship. Also, you've done a good job writing tight little lines and keeping up a meter and rhyme scheme at the same time. "If history is to change, let it change. If the world is to be destroyed, so be it. If my fate is to die, I must simply laugh" |

fractal007: This was just a realization I've had for quite some time now but have never put it to words, until this piece. As they say, "write what you know" and sadly, that's all I know. Perhaps one day there will come a time that I won't need to be a secret anymore. But enough of that. I'm glad you liked the piece, thank you. temptress: And I thank you as well temptress, I'd glad you enjoyed it. G Regret not that which you have done, |

the object of my affection... tough stuff old chap. fates twisted sense of humor: you love someone, but not the one that loves you, and the one you love is with you but not really. aahhh! been there. i agree that it reads like a song. i however dislike lines this short in poem this long. they get tiresome, and give too much of a rapid feel to the peice. take it easy. |

majnu: Ya, I guess this is kind of like a song, too bad I don't have a band to be able to put it to music. Thanks. G Regret not that which you have done, |
