Born in half smiled drip
sarcastic form took mind
then was written
to play out the foolish
jesters? Again Jesters?
who would make the court laugh
forgetting the affairs
of state and heart

He sat quietly
introspectiveness becoming calm
to try the hand of muse
to forget his own wan song

Garish gargoyle face
painted for effect
lest someone see the tear

that in his heart was fact

he donned the robe of rags
and wrapped in such poor silk
felt the sting of time

Might I entertain you?

Ron,
You combine the recent onslaught
of Fool's Journeys,
and the garbled refrain
"Here we are now,
entertain us."

"Let me, entertain you.
Let me, make you smile..."

ooops....better get dressed now.

I did have a real good time, and you certainly know how to make a point, Ron...

If I keep shaking my head at you? I'm gonna make that old whiplash injury start to ache, and then I shall be forced to drink to ease the pain...and then? See what you'll have made me do?

*shaking my head at you*

Mike... I write as my mind works and if it a jester's game then indeed my mind has followed Alice's path down the rabits hole...

thanks for the comment my friend...

Make a point...oh...I'm just a dumb ol country boy that ain't got sense enough to make a point. Been told I had one between my shoulders.... but never understood what they all meant by that...

Wow!  Interesting poem.  I like your description of the experience of becoming too superficial and forgetting the important matters in one's soul and in the world as a whole.  This is a very good depiction of a person trying to keep up appearances so as to shun and ignore the real issues and problems he is fully aware of.

Thanks for sharing.

This reminds me of a fool I love in my favourite novels...

this is the same ache one sees in his character, oh yes you've written him.

Trash? TRASH? Dare you refer to this as trash? I won't let you, you know.

I may even print this out and stick in the first book...any objections?
