These "Butterfly" eyes
I wear so well,
Hide me from all the pain and Despair
People not noticing what is really
Undernealth
I keep it well hidden, way down Deep
Masking the true image of who
I really am
Keeping dark secrets away from open
Air
Showing everyone, what they want to
See
But they really don't notice
It's not really me
It's hard to keep fluttering these
"Butterfly" eyes
When all i really want to do
Is break down and cry
But to all those who know me
Or "think" that they do
These "Butterfly" eyes will
Keep shining through

I slept and dreamed that life was beauty was thy dream then a shadowy lie? -ESH-

I look into those "butterfly eyes" every day in the mirror, myself only knowing the secrets they hold. I feel very connected to this post, I understand your words well. Reminded me of a poem I posted a long time ago....you can probably relate.

"...and she lived behind a colorful mask
Her beauty warped by their lies
She had a beautiful face
Her truths hidden by brilliant disguise.

Her smile told a story
About things never true
Her eyes were so convincing
A trap… in the lightest shade of blue...."

Wish i didn't have to, it wears me down daily

Wow Temptress*Moon great poem. It's true we all hide under masks, but is this the right thing to to...maybe we should be ourselves and express how we feel!
