3. The Lady Wanders the Halls

Lady Diastonene sees the faces
of her lovers' hands.

Those secret pressing mouths.
Strawberries bursting through the sand.

Cobwebs play upon her lips.
She sings on to their forms.

From the ceiling, spun rings drop
(only thread-green worms).

Bees against the window,
bees there in the garden.

She asked Robert about the sky.
He told her tasted tongue.

Blue tongue, it was a tower.
Always collapsing.

Can you feel it collapsing,
ribs? Oh, can you?

Can you feel it collapsing?
Call back the lightning sun,

the fall --
it's, the light, it's...

Falling into the trees,
falling beneath their ribs.

To
play for her.
A song of gold.

Sunlit fractions.
Gave warmth to the cold.

And she knew.
And he knew.
And that was it.

And she wanders on.
Another hall.
To another room.

Wants to sleep.
Among the glass,
become color pattern.

Cause.
A
shape.
A frame.
A
causal lapse of time.

She arrives.
Study of stains.
A statue here.

Searches its face.
Unlike her,
but she.

The Lord's hands
made this stone
without her view.

A sunset gray iceline face.
But, what matters. Yes.

She leans against her image
under glass he painted.
Blotted purple, slashing
blue, comma green, redblack frame.
Flaming sun
encased, entombed,
in these combing stains.

Inscription read
in spider script:
"Her laughter sounds like crying."

What he says,
pressed message,
when sweating sweet and dying.

Now,
I hear a Minstrals lute, all throughout
the reading of this.

Still with ya here.

And the yumminess continues. I love this poem. Hate to quote Vince Clark, since he annoys me soooo much, but "just can't get enough."

Ah, the cuteness of young '80s.

Anyway. More? Pwease?

i'll be waiting for you
do exactly what you're told
