Fearing perhaps
I'll miss the truth
by taking my eyes
off of you.

Dreading a life
void of definition.
I watch with dark
apprehension.

Watching for what?
Waiting for whom?
Watchful I sit
within the gloom.

Knowing nothing
caring even less.
Enduring the hours
of hopelessness.

Ever watchful
loyal, on guard
yet afraid to venture
out of  the dark.
