I met you when I was lust-poor and starving for kindness You appeared to me to be the giver of all things benevolent and sublime But hidden oh so well in your deep secret places I felt an unknown coldness That only true emptiness can bring I struggled to soothe the spectre of her away As my hands crossed the curves and paths of your skin I longed to fill the void she created in you with her Fangs and heart-rending claws, by offering my humble Gifts to you (fashioned by my own hand) Offering them up on the altar of love And yet I was found wanting Oh how I longed to be the life-giver To your daughter The breast which you caressed so gently Would nourish and comfort the product of Our bonding The weight of your ring I dreamed of day and night for months Yet - The accusatory words of games played and no time Still ring in my ears Because I know And always will know the truth Behind my words struck you to the core And you can’t face the reality of your life Her ghost like presence hovered there As you broke down my very world So smug in its knowledge of your dependence on her cruelty and half twisted truths Smug in her knowledge that tonight She would lie cold and calculating in your arms While I would be alone and wakeful Yet tonight as you clasp her ghost-memory to you Remember the truths of her heart And then maybe deep in your dreams You will find that secret warm place When you remember my love for you A book must be the axe for the frozen sea within us. |

whoa. Heather. wow. This is felt. I loved the opening line, was pushed through the rest, and left feeling like a piece of me had just been displayed to the world... in reverse, if you know what I mean. You did a doozie here, I really really like it. |

A great writer once said to me that instead of just putting words on paper.... I should bleed the words onto paper, I think that's what happened when I wrote this last night. I didn't take time to rewrite or edit - this is exactly how I feel. Ouch. Thanks Chris by the way, you made my morning. |
