Awakening in the night,
stinging from memories
of words once whispered
beneath tousled sheets;
lying in the dark,
knowing I am changed,
reduced to one half of one,
struggling to discover
the meaning of it all.

Thank you for the kind words everyone. Yes, this poem is factual, but it is getting a little better each day. Heartbreak does seem to be running rampant around here, but if we were not tortured souls, what would we write about?
