It's the oldest trick in the book You gotta show them where to look Not there, where signs are bad But there where it ain't so sad Humanity is soon ejected If times are hard you find a war Get them looking 'over there' Then you beat your chest and shout It really looks like you have some clout Instead of being rejected It hides the petty fool hiding there Who in truth doesn't really care Business bought his soul long ago Desires stay while principles go He just wants re-elected So now we'll see a ******* state Become a mask of writhing hate To suit the hawks and men of war That love to swim in seas of gore They want the world 'corrected' The snarling face of arrogant men Will shut down all reason then A black day will have spawned a son And instead of sense will stand a gun And all the world - infected |

I just watched a television program that really shocked me. It was about a campaign where American troops were given orders from high command to regard refugees as targets. Thousands of men, women and children were mutilated and murdered in cold blood by American troops. Over 400 refugees were blown to pieces on a seashore by artillary attack from American gunships just offshore. This the hidden story of the Korean war. And specifically the story of a place called No Gun Ri. It is a shocking story of what happens when military might regards those of another ethic origin as inferior. Here is a site that tells the story of America's military might at its very worst. Will we see more of this in the years ahead? http://wire.ap.org/APpackages/nogunri/ |

Allan, This is such a well-written and thought provoking poem. So how do we fix the destruction of projection and denial? Most people think that they are being honest and compassionate. This is the best description of the war effort that I have read yet. Shenachie |
