Nightfall

The tides come in, the waves go out.
My soul drifts away into the ocean.
The pain fades off like the light of the day,
Leaving me in the black and hollow darkness.

The scar is deep and will not heal,
The voices never stop. They taunt me.
Tell what to do, I don't need them.
Leave me alone!

A web of fear entanlges my mind,
Overpowering my will to go on.
With one last sigh, I let myself go,
Allowing my last hope to slip away.

The fall is slow and the wind rushed by,
I close my eyes but not cry.
The last thing that comes to mind is,
My friends crying and screaming my name,
But it's so far in the distance.
Too far, outta reach...

To give up hope is to die away.
Leaving others in despair.
Maybe now they feel the pain and sorrow,
I went through everyday.

sounds like one of the best, saddest poems ever, it really intrigued me
absolutely powerful, breathtaking to say the least

Hey everyone:
Thanks for reading and getting back to me. As far as publishing goes, I am being published in February this year (2001) in a book called Nature's Echoes but the piece that is going to be in there is unfortunately not this poem. It is one that I posted a long time ago called Escape. Anyways, thankz everyone.
