Designer children. DNA perfection. Genetically encoded personality. Are we merely the result of chemical interactions? Just one of Nature’s natural robots. Is religion a program? Just protocol to make us feel better. God is the reaction to accelerated protons and neurons. So upon this realization I take no more responsibility. It is certainly not my fault… it must have been encoded in my genes. Adaptation, evolution, persistence flourished and then in the name of human science, man created god. A small microscopic cell, capable of so much emotion, so much love, and so much hate. God is a mutated cell. a cancer of sorts playing games with our heads. And I am nothing more than chemical reactions. It must be true, science says so. [This message has been edited by Effigy (edited 01-24-2001).] |

I just thought I would put it in as a side note that this poem is very sarcastic. I do not feel that we are just genetic code, in fact the very idea of it I find to be quite scarey. I do so hope that all that I am is more than the sum of my components. I don't think that creativity is a chemical reaction. |

sorry effigy, I just got here...and I thought this fascinating...and a debate I've had many a time...I loved your poem---and if it's a question you want to explore further you might want to try the philosophy forum. I thought this excellent, sarcasm or not. |
