A Shadow In The Waves Caught a sea nymph, a shadow in the waves, standing in the foamy roll of shore bound blue-green sea. Saw my heart outlined there against the sea and sky, saw this beautiful effigy of all the things for which I'd die. Touched my soul, gave it to her, saw her slowly start to fade, held my breathe, closed my eyes, sent my love across the sea to this sunlight backed seafarer's dream, a shadow in the waves. w. james beard, jr. © January 2001 ...with inspiration from the photo of fellow writer...1slick_lady. Thank you my friend. [This message has been edited by jwesley (edited 01-21-2001).] |

JWesley~ Very nicely done. Don't you just love it when inspiration comes in 'waves' ? ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com |

Well thank you all so very much. Gee, surprised here that it was so well received. Been wanting to write "sea nymph" somehow for a while and Helens photo just seemed to fit...the way she's clothed, standing in the waves, more a siloutte with the sun behind than a person; a sprite or sea nymph if you will (at least that's what I got). Anyway thank you all for the read and gracious comments, and Helen I'm tickled you liked it, especially since I didn't ask you first if I could use your name/photo. And Sunshine...I will, I will, and finally did on the same line. jwesley |
