They Only Seek Justice What does the child call in the night? When fears crowd clouding their sight When they live in the shadows of pain Knowing and dreading being hurt again Keeping their eyes turned to the wall Listening intently for a certain footfall What word echoes in their sobbing soul Justice is the word that makes them whole What seeks the heart broken and sore? When it thinks love won’t come anymore When it lies on the floor to silently cry Knowing its chained and unable to fly Encased in ice so it won’t know hate Turning its eyes away from loves gate What word throbs through this heart? Justice is the word that makes it restart What drives the hungry seeking to eat? When they have no chance of eases seat When their hands are empty of pities grace Knowing another day of sorrows they face So hungry they can’t even raise their eyes While government show concerned surprise? What word pounds through their ears? Justice is the word that they long to hear Justice for the poor who have lost hopes Justice gives them a blessed guiding rope Justice for the child who lives on in fear Justice gives them a listening trusting ear Justice for the hungry who seek needs end Justice gives them a way the rules to bend Justice for the heart that calls for respite Justice gives them wonder and loves light Marsha Take back the hope you gave,- I claim Only a memory of the same Robert Browning [This message has been edited by Marsha (edited 01-19-2001).] |

Marsha, I love it when Justice cries out to be heard and is answered by a poet. Excellent! write on Kethry Those of us who refuse to risk and grow get swallowed up by life. Patty Hansen. |

wonderful discussion of the idea of justice...could it be an enigmatic figment of one's imagination, forever sought, rarely found, if at all? |
