He rode across the desert Yucca, saguaros tumbleweeds Stretched out behind him Purple mountains in the distance On one side Mongollen cliffs A hint of aspen showing before him Down a steep arroyo Rich green suddenly appeared Shangri-la It was his name for it This small oasis Up the trail a wisp of smoke Yet he stopped, Isis deserved a drink While her head was down He swigged from his canteen Soon the ranch was in view And he took care of Isis Before he went to the cabin Inside, The smell of steak grilling And rich coffee But the scent that led his nose Took him the other way As they embraced he said “You’re why I named this place.” Great souls have wills; feeble ones have only wishes. ~ Chinese Proverb ~ |

Bill--What a beautiful scene you've painted here...and what a romantically wonderful ending...loved it. |

If I ever get the horse I want... Isis shall be it's name... but you, Sir...have all the riches... |

Martie- I may never own a horse - much less a ranch in Arizona but I've seen and enjoyed the beauty of that State - and I'd like to think I know what love is - Thank you Karilea- LOL - I needed a name for a mare - I thought of Magnum PI and Zeus & Apollo (the dobermans) - - somehow Isis came to mind - Thank you ~G~ SEA - You should see Arizona - barring that subscribe for a year to Arizona Highways - the most beautiful state without an ocean I know - Thank you |

Wonderfully vivid, I could almost heart the insects and the snakes slither. |
