Father Poem His hands were my safe haven, His heart overflowing with joy, His mind sound on his faith. yet his body crumbled, and his health decayed. He held his head high, applying his mask of happiness. the pain might have overwhelmed him, but we all were blinded by hope; blinded by his positive attitude He never had a loss of words. words were his natural receptacle for discarded sorrows, immediate joys, stale dreams, and a message of cheer to everyone. we were given many flowers on that sad day, and many have reached his resting place . But all the flowers wilted and perished but one will remain fresh and wiltproof, the little flower he drew himself on the last breath of his forever remembered life. This really got to me. Especially the flowers. When my father died, we left many of them at the gravesite. It was in February's bitter cold and the deer came into the cemetary that evening to feed on them. I know he would have loved that. Thank you for sharing your Father's story. You are right, this was a very good read and it gave me goosebumps. Your Dad looks as though he might be near the age my son was when I lost him to a heart attack. Thanks for sharing wonderful memories in your beautiful tribute. joyce |

Truly a wonderful read! I'm lucky that my dad is in good health, and he's always there to help, and never complain about anything. Thank for sharing this beautiful poem about love. A quarter of a century must pass, for the writer to understand what and why he writes. |

Dear Blondie: I'm sorry about the loss of your father. You have great memories to cherish. I lost my father when he was only 53 to cancer. It was such a valiant fight. I wish I had tried to write something like this for him before he died. Someone told me the other day, "Don't forget what you have, because of what you've lost." Very touching poem! Blondie, I'm sorry for your loss. The tribute to your Dad would have made him so proud of you. It was quite touching and showed a great amount of admiration and love. Kate Blessings Genuine poetry can communicate before it is understood. |
