i walk in all circles, always have, always will. i fix stuff, which makes me useful. (they're just people to me) i've listened to their stories. happy. sad. loving. mad. so many places to find wisdom, if you look. (they're just people to me) i've sat on boats with men who could buy cities with a few calls to their banker. i laughed when they said that "success" comes from ruthlessness. and they thought i was laughing with them. (they're just people to me) i've sat under a viaduct with men who eat catfood because it's cheaper than tuna. the source of heat there is a fire in a garbage can, marked with skull and crossbones. i tried to laugh when they did. (they're just people to me) i've often wondered what it would be like to be normal. to not ask questions. to not notice that people are blind to the treasures they already have. to not be me. then i really laughed. some notes: it uses a pattern of lines which this text window seems to have distorted (i.e. it's structured but this stupid computer messed it up) 2,ref,3,ref,4,ref,5,ref,6 - line count. ok, enough ranting, whadya think?...tom |

(they're just people to me) inserted between each stanza is very effective...it drives the point home that when you strip away the material things we are all basically the same. Clever psychological twist at the end...if you weren't who you are, then you would be them, and them's are just people...without the insights to see beyond the material things or the talent to ask the right questions...best to be who you are. Very thoughtful and enjoyable read! Jellybean King |
