First Kiss Then, a car's front seat was called a bench. A sort of giant slide rule, it meant You could calculate your progress with a girl By measuring the distance interval. I had a friend, keen on science, Who spent hours attempting to insert Arm length into the equation. I didn't have the math for that. Instead I confronted the vast, expanding silence By observing the lights twinkling in the distance. Once, in shyness, I commented On the origin of the universe. She didn't mind, cautious as I was Not to mention the "BIG BANG" theory, The proof of which would long escape me. In truth, we relied on radio; Soft, warm, central; its dial a glow Much like an ember. We watched it so, More than each other, until one night The battery ran low. Then our eyes took charge. RMW |

Loved...I mean...I mean...loved this! Filled with nostalgia, innocence...hinting at what would be (...then our eyes took charge)...this is truely great writing. I loved the idea...measuring the distance on the bench as an indication of your progress with a girl... Jellybean King |

Dear Jellybean, I have a close friend who's mania for Ju-Ju Bees (sp?) warrants his adopting the name. Being equally kind, I wonder if you are related. I look forward to enjoying more of YOUR work. I'm told you have a way. Thanks again. Bob |

Deb, Drive-in movies? You are absolutely right. But then, I went to an all-boys high school. So what do I know. Chuckle. Bob |

I wonder if teens today ever look into one another's eyes, probably do most of their flirting through a screen like this one! You're a great addition to this forum, keep 'em coming! Corinne |

Just A Woman .... as we were properly introduced quite some time ago I must tell you, and all others who happen to attend this message, that I take exception to your new name. It shouts contradiction. It's like saying, "just a Marine". (Smiling). Nice to be in your company again. Waseem.....Thank you for commenting, Waseem. And I am especially pleased to make the acquaintance of someone from Pakistan. Being here makes me feel like .... Sean Connery (I wish)....I've seen Canada, the UK, and now, Pakistan. Greetings. Corinne, I don't believe it! The youth of America technologically winking their way (;;; through teendom and never once slipping a false eyelash or losing a contact lense? What fun is that? Thank you for the encouragement. Bob |

Oh, Bob, oh, Bob...I must copy and save this, pretty please! Oh, it almost makes me want to go back to being a teen again...and that's something I've vehemently said I'd never want to relive. Adoslesence, shudder! I hope you submit this poem somewhere...it's a money maker! |

Ah that first kiss, great write Don't ever give in, if you do you've lost everything you've ever had and everything you hope to gain, but if you carry on your already winning. |

All boys school, or not, Bob, you've got this routine down pat! Wonderful piece, I loved it. (did I say piece?) Kate Blessings Genuine poetry can communicate before it is understood. |

For a moment there, I was 16 in front seat of a yellow and blue oldsmobile with Ron, a lake and a green glowing dial. "I am not now that which I have been." |
