Something just got into my van
It is BIG and it is green
Eyes as big as my hand
Oh man, is it looking mean

There it went under the seat
I'm not getting in there, no not me
Gosh it is long, maybe 10 feet
How it got in there is hard to see

Oh no, it is down there whipping its tail
Knocking over everything under the seat
If I got in there my life would be in peril
Maybe I don't need to go for at least a week

OK, I'm bigger than it is
I have to get him to come out
Oh, I just saw his beady eyes
Get it out? Well now I have a doubt

Call an expert to handle this job
Come prepared, don't want anyone hurt
I looked on and tried to swallow a sob
Exterminater it said on the back of his shirt

Well after a time he found a salamander
Tried to make me think it was he
Could be its baby not him for sure
Some day the big one will jump out at me

I want this to be on the record
I case some day I don't return
That the huge green thing isn't captured
He's in my van without a concern

Good incentive to start a walking program, don't you think? Thanks for making me smile.

A nice sense of mystery: a story with a twist. Right up to the end, I would have sworn it to be a garden hose. I've never cared for "green" surprises regardless of form.

Julian Lester, I could live with a garden hose, but not sure about this. It gets more funny as time goes by. And welcome to Passions! ME

I thought sure it was a snake. A salamander
of course, is bad enough! Cute poem.

Trillium, thank you. It doesn't take much to entertain old people or kids. LOL

Butterflies, my kid, now don't you feel just a little bit sorry for me? Oh, well, with nothing to eat in there, it should die . Oh, no, think of the smell! I guess I can't win. Love and hugs, Mom
