(My PiP poet friend helped once more)

They showed it again
last night
on cable
"Silver Streak"
Jill Clayburg
Gene Wilder

(who'd have thought
to pair them?)

A exciting, romantic
suspenseful comedy
I've come to love
No Cary Grant
No Eve Marie Saint
ordinary people
like you and I
caught up in each other

(meanwhile, you are
extraordinary)

They fall in love
I re-live vicariously
each time
as once again I recall
Jill's words
"I give good phone."

(as only she can)

Make no mistake
destinations are
important
but we soon learn
“getting there”
is half the fun
maybe more

(like the center of
a tootsie pop...
who wants to crunch
ahead of time)

If the train were warm
and comfortable
rolled through vistas
America’s west
or Europe’s

(can't you blush at
how we would add
to the rock and roll?)

I cannot but imagine
How inventive
How romantic
a compartment could be
would we care
if we never arrived

(but arrive we did
you tipped your hat
I nodded my head;
you took your bag,
and I took mine ~
and wondered,
"What if we
had never arrived....")

The first duty of love is to listen.

Well Mr. Yeats...you must have approved of your collaborator's work, for the piece "talks" well...and is an interesting conversation, indeed....

I curtsey to both of you
