The Rail Fence If I had known that space and cedar Could hold as well as stone, or better, The things I might entrust to pasture, I would have saved myself some ache And taken off the afternoon To write a friend Or watch a brook. It's been some time since I last sat To just enjoy the look of water. I should do that. As for the other...... RMW |

If I had known that space and cedar Could hold as well as stone, or better, The things I might entrust to pasture, I would have saved myself some ache ================= It's been some time since I last sat To just enjoy the look of water. ================= This is a cool write... written from a unique perspective with clever imagery, use of metaphor and turn of phrase. All who read this could perceive something different based on their own need of "fences" Welcome to Passions new poet ... so nice to meet you, I look forward to more of your interesting work. jm oh you speak to me in riddles |

Welcome to Passions! Man do I ever love this piece you've written here! Reminds me of the Lou Rawls song....'If I Coulda Woulda Shoulda' great write and I'll be looking forward to more from you.....some poems just hit me special and this one did! The poet is like a cocoon; in him the caterpillar of the past finds rest, and from him the butterfly of the future emerges. |

Wonderful writing. I'll echo those thoughts. Forgive me if I am wrong, but might I have seen you once upon a time at RLW's? "When people show you who they are, believe them" |

I admire the rhythmic reflection in your poem. Welcome and thanks for this. Claire Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |

It will wait until later. . . (: Welcome. . . I really liked the simplicity of this one. . . ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |

Bob, this is exactly what I'm hoping to have opportunity to do the first half of spring break when I go visit my daughter. I'll be away a few days, but I'll be looking forward to returning and seeing more of your poetry. It looks like you've already started quite a stir. I'm at the bottom of a pretty long line. |

It's no use. In spite of my hurrying,I'm late in bidding you welcome. I do love lyrical, yet simple languages that express so much. You have accomplished in just a few lines what some poets never learn: show, don't tell. Superior bit writing, this. "I am not now that which I have been." |

Deb, Thank you for the welcome and comments. They are appreciated. Julian, YES!!! I'm now able to scroll down past 17. I do not understand this. Oh well. It was worth the wait, to be welcomed again. Thanks much. Bob |
