My Light Uncloaked by Michael Auguste The1re is such stillness in the night In this quiet my thoughts are clear Of the things in life that matter And of the people I hold dear What lives in me I often cloak The radiance I dare not show I cannot let the shine escape I cannot even let it glow With some I have shared of this light And in so doing, saw their own Our friendship brighter since we shared Now so much closer we have grown This light dwells deep within us all We often hide its majesty For fear to hurt or being hurt So often hard the balance be We clothe ourselves in layers thick We fear to trust, so fail to shine And keep within us all we are I've often done the same with mine But recently I chose to trust Though still afraid, uncloaked my light And let my heart be viewed in depth I only hope that I was right Proust- |

intersting questions inspired "Why do we hide our lights- our true selves?" The answer is individual of course. But a generalized answer might be fear of being different. When we all are just that-unique each means different each. Nice self search "Be your own hero. Save your interior landscape. As in all mythos the blight can be defeated and the land turned back to freedom and fertility. |

Michael--Friendship is a precious thing, built on trust...and someone has to take the first step. You write so well of something so human that is hard to say. I liked your poem very much. |

SEA, Thank you for readin this. I'm so glad you liked it. ATelamon, Yes, sometimes it is a fear of being different. However, another reason is a fear of being hurt. Thanks for stopping by and reading. Martie, True, honesty and trust are the ingredients for any healthy friendship, or relationship. Thank you commenting on this, Martie. Michael Proust- |

MichaelA~ Well, I have to say that I've never, ever regretted shining my light ... any hurt was small in comparison to the joy I kept. Reach out ... others may be waiting for your touch ... and I think your own thoughts said it best ... 'With some I have shared of this light And in so doing, saw their own Our friendship brighter since we shared Now so much closer we have grown' My grandmother said, "Love someone ... often. For the worst you'll ever come away with ... are a few tears that will dry ... long before the memories ever fade." Funny thing about grandmothers ... they are so right - so often ! *Hugs* ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |

Carries within a wonderful truth as a treasure to be shared. "I am not now that which I have been." |

Marge, Yes, grandmothers are always right. Thanks. Betty, I'm happy you liked this one. My light is cloaked again right now. I'll decide eventually whether I should let it shine again. Thank you.
