How can man bear to cut these trees, towering here for centuries, in coastal forests, bathed in fog, reduce them to a giant log? Before the white man came to dwell, no threat of their destruction fell upon these trees of majesty. One wonders how they came to be. Conditions in this narrow zone, exactly right for them alone to sink their roots deep in the earth, attaining such a height and girth, make all these forests so unique! They are a wonder that we seek because they are an ancient tie to our beginnings. If they die, we've lost more than we can afford. An insult to our Sovereign Lord! This gift He gave to you and me, a source of awe and mystery, we must protect and save for new generations to come and view. To walk around the buttressed base, then tip your head to stare at space where branches mingle, high above, creates emotions of "tree love!" Betty Lou Hebert |

How true! Trees are very much a part of our circle of life. Protection they need. |
