Some fruits grow, not in a field, but in a pot, though the trees still know the gifts they possess, the beauty they yield. Some fruits grow in tall meadow grass; the limbs of their trees do not show— hidden by weeds disguising the dusty pass. Some fruits grow and are picked right away, not given the chance to ripen slow, to taste the sun day after day after day. Some fruits grow without an ounce of care, without explanation, nor reason, with no hand to sew— just a strong will and old-fashioned air. Some fruits grow on the same tree or vine; these are the fruits that I savor over time, that I love and adore, and that suits me just fine. Dance with me under the moon. Touch my pale skin. Devour me. Love me. |

Well my "fruits" get me into trouble a lot actually, and also are "stewed in a pot", but I too would not have it any other way! This was fantastic, I loved it. ~*~A poet is someone who reads more than they write ~*~ |

In my reading the "fruits" are people...growing in whatever condition or soil they find themselves. I findd that allusion to be clever and compelling...for no matter what the obstacles may be, they find a way to grow and live. The last stanza is one of my favorites...I read it as people who love/need people, are your favorite people...they are mine too. Wonderful read! Jellybean King |

'Some fruits grow and are picked right away, not given the chance to ripen slow, to taste the sun day after day after day. Some fruits grow without an ounce of care, without explanation, nor reason, with no hand to sew— just a strong will and old-fashioned air.' Excellent work, embers! I truly enjoyed this one! sp don't know how you do it, like there's nothin' to it, |
