     Really, I'm in a good mood. Just being silly. Pity Party, Hardy! Virginia Salter Come on over, my dear friend and sit a bit with me I’m having a big pity party would you like some tea? We could lace it with some ars’nic and have it on the rocks We could have it with our friends or with old Seuss’s fox. Or we might get ol’ cat in hat to gather up some mice And make ourselves some ego stew now wouldn’t that be nice? Bring some friends to celebrate how easily we find To tarry off to Lala Land where we can lose our mind. Skip to my Lou, ol’ sweet, sweet Sue at hop-scotch or jump rope We can sit and help each other find many ways to cope. We could sing a song or two or recite some words from Frost We could book a trip to Ireland for blarney...ban the cost. What would be some thoughts of yours about this pity fate? Do you think that we could find each one to have a date? For when life is a pity it’s rot to be alone I know, we’ll fly to city and beg them for a clone. © March 14, 2001 |
