From out her grasp,
passed golden scepter,
Ships and armies,
long since left her,
Desert sands
where once was plains,
Centuries' dust
cloak her remains,
Ramparts crumbled,
molded flag,
Begone green forest,
boar and stag,
Conflagration,
Annihilation,
Desolation,
Obscured foundation,
Crushing waves
of timeless sea,
Buried in
eternity.

Methinks, sweet Knight
thy words ring true
for ne'er was a better
poet than you.

Hi Mike,

This was beautiful yet sad and I loved the imagery in it,

Mike~
This is so beautifully sad....yes I think a
poem can be both...and this one is...you
penned into so many things in this piece and
you do it as only you can do...you weave the
tears of loss with the same delicate touch
that you do the happiness of love
found...excellent writing~

Mike~
This piece has such a lovely flow.
The cadence is right on !
To the top of the heap for others to enjoy.

Solemn and stirring and rife with foreboding. Thank you for sharing this eloquent, important poem.
