In the space between moments

A scrawl of fluid, golden light
Casts sunlight lace upon this turf
Where the quiet elegance of you
Once stood...
Shadows swell from the edges
Smothering the dying saffron orb
~Suffocating my will~
With it’s dark, opaque force...

The semblance of a twilight covering
Is brutally tattered
By the lacerations of your memory...
How can I find peace tonight
When within every star-sparkle
I see your eyes?

The flutterings of cool air
Brush sweetly over my cheeks
~sponging up my tears~
Pressing soft to my skin,
And offering trace of comfort
To this misty, shaded soul...

And then the first shivers of dawn
Prickle upon my face...
Your image gently wavers
~fading from this heart~
And the fragments of emerging day
Remind me that after love
Tomorrow still comes.

Beautiful piece of writing, my dear. Haunting memories cleansed by the "first shivers of dawn." (I absolutely adore that image! )

"How can I find peace tonight
When within every star-sparkle
I see your eyes?"

Loved those lines, too. Enjoyed this one muchly, love

such descriptive, powerful words and images to define the longing, loss, ache, and need.
And as always such unique phrases and images
nothing ever cliche' from you .. yet the poetry is written with the grace and style of a classic.
wonderful writing K.

Oh Krista, this is stunning m'dear, I floated while reading each line and even more so with these lines....

"How can I find peace tonight
When within every star-sparkle
I see your eyes?"............ What a beautiful image!

"Tomorrow still comes." .......... Loved the way you closed it. Yes tomorrow still comes.

Gorgeous writing Krista!
