"changes"

you say one thing
but its apparent you mean totally another--
petty stupid fights we have as of late
i know the reasons why

so many changes are occuring
these changes scare us both
life is but a cycle though
nothing ever remains the same for long

i wish i could make you understand
the things i do aren't to hurt you
i'm simply spreading my wings and learning to fly
we both know that it's time

we don't even argue
about the subject at hand anymore
then with a wave of your hand
you dimiss it all...like nothing has happened

i love you so much
you are not only my dad
you know you are also one of my best friends
that has nor never will change

i look into your blue eyes
wondering what goes on in that head of yours
you say you support and understand me
ahhh...but if only you could see the confusion on your face

i try to pretend like things are the same
that nothing has really changed
in a few months there will be a fork in our road
you'll go your way, and i'll go mine

never for one moment though
doubt how much i love you
you are my lifeline in this crazy world
always have been...always will be

i'm no longer scared to let you go
you are happy now
that makes me happier than you'll ever know
no longer do i have to worry about you

mom is watching us all from heaven
you know she's smiling down...dont you?--
her heart shines with pride and love
our angel in the sky

as we go through these changes
just remember one thing
if you ever need me--you know where i am
do not hesitate to depend on me

remember when i was a small girl
i use to look at you like you were the greatest
well guess what?--i'll tell you a secret
i still do

Oh Amy ... what a wonderful treasure of emotions this is! You've captured the feelings of my youth also, at a time when I too, was growing separate ways. It's a difficult phase, but you've shown such maturity and understanding ... such a tremendous read. You've got me reminscing on my own days, and for that my dear, I thank you. I think I'll give a special father a little phonecall shortly! Loved this Amy!

Best wishes,
/Kit

Amy, this is such a tender and loving piece....rest assured that your dad loves you as much as you love him. People often go through a phase where it seems like they are fighting all the time, but that will all change with time. Everything will work itself out.

P.S. I hope you gave this to him.

Amy,

What a beautiful precious poem you have penned m'dear. I hope you have given this to your Dad. Oh how he would melt.

Absolutely beautiful writing Hon

Amy I only have the one daughter and it was hard for me to stop being the all knowing daddy all the time and recognize the wonderful intelligence of this other human being that I brought into the world. She too has grown up and she's turned into such a wonderful friend and we have long two way conversations now......but she had to let go of me too...as I had to let go of her...so, I know the way you mean it to a certain extent.......sorry to hear about your Mom that's ever so hard .....however, it's great that you have such a love for your Dad and this poem is absolutely wonderful!...take care ethome.
