the trust i once had has been broken
this tired heart wants to feel no more
the wings of this butterfly are tattered
to the sky i no longer want to soar

the chains that use to control me
i feel them again in the shadows of the night
the strength i once had to carry on
now leaves me empty...with nothing left to fight

then as if by a miracle
you came into my life that day
helping me how to learn to live and love again
you're like a treasure map to show me the way

i thought i'd experienced my fair share of life
in the short twenty-three years i've been here
seen many wonderful and painful things
cried my share of tears

then you came along
like an angel right out of the sky
with a few words from you i now smile
as you silently dry my eye

though time and distance may seperate us
this special friendship is true as can be
and though we may have never seen each other face to face
still i reveal to you the true me

all my cards lay on the table
as i hand my heart and soul to you
something tells me deep inside
that you feel the same way too

this friendship may be just that
a friendship of the heart and soul
love may never grow
still--nonetheless i thank you dear sweet friend
for making me once again whole

It is so nice that when we are down someone can come along and give us hope. Sometimes someone just being a good friend is all we need.

Beautiful, Amy. This is such a reflection of how God puts people in our lives exactly when we need them. And though we may not always understand the how's and why's, it's simpily there.
A beautiful write. I am so happy for you!

To hold tomorrow we must first be willing to let go of yesterday.

Amy, you have out done yourself here. Your words have touched my heart. You don't have to know someone face to face to be loved or to love (just a thought). Thank you.

Hugs!
Tammy

Hi! I loved your piece, and I am sure it is one many can identify with, as love is quite often the most intangible thing there is, and one of the people that posted was quite right...just when you need love most, it shows up in one form or another, whether it is an animal, person, plant, whatever...but it shows up! I am so glad yours did, nice piece.

When you think the broken pieces of your soul can never be made whole, someone comes along with a case of super glue and infinite patience. Whether they are near or far, they are treasured. *S* This is beautiful!

Hey Aims...beautiful lines here! Not used to reading so early in the morning... ...I'm not usually functioning until about, oh, an hour or two after I get to work...hehe...but, you know I love this, girlie!! Always love a good read from you, ya know!

do I believe we'd be better off apart?
can I see my world without you in it?
baby, not for a single minute...

Amy:

Like all the others said this is a sweet and caring poem to a good friend. As the saying goes distance makes the heart grow fonder so even though you do live far apart you still can feel as close. I'm glad that you've found someone to make you "fly" again since for a while there you were like a bird with a broken wing unable to fly yet wishing with all your might that soon you'd be close to those blue skies again. It may be hard but I don't think you should let something so true and good go.
