Unexpected Things had fallen Into dull routine Her job, his job Both too tired Romance faded Two exhausted souls She remembered He did too When love was fresh Passions high Life was surprises Anything goes She came home first Found his raincoat And an old bowler hat From a Halloween in the past She showered – Dug out some heels Scrounged around Found his dad’s cane And put a ‘New York New York’ CD on the stereo And waited She heard the garage door Turned on the music He dropped his work on the chair And saw her Doing a kind of soft shoe Raincoat, hat, and cane She swam in the coat He fell in the chair Smiled as memories returned That day she picked him up At the airport As the music closed She fell in his lap And gave him a old times kiss Kisses led to kisses And his hands began to move She loved the look In his eyes As his probes Revealed the unexpected Nothing Else Great souls have wills; feeble ones have only wishes. ~ Chinese Proverb ~ |

Doreen- I watched "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" last night. A scene with Lena Olin inspired this. (btw - great movie if you've missed it.) Thank you Kethry- Hey - the male wasn't wearing the bowler ~G~ Thanks Karilea- Ok - this time you can write one where he gets home first ~G~ - Thanks Sharon- Revitalization is something many marriages need - I just hope I'm sufficient catalyst. Thanks |

Mr Yeats, what a wonderful write! So full of the truth of the expected....and then the shock of the unexpected. Fantastic in each and every word you penned! ![]() ~Becky~ |

Oh Wilfred.... So many couples are in this state...... and look, it only takes one simple thing, with very little effort to get it back on track! ![]() Truly a fun and wonderful piece to read. < !signature--> ~Sheri "The things that come to those that wait may be the things left by those who got there first" [This message has been edited by Irie (edited 01-15-2001).] |
