Roots If I could wander back in time To where my lifeline flows To wells of heritage that’s mine That only history knows Another time, another place Would greet this kindred soul And shine a likeness on my face As common traits unfold A different language would I hear Beneath familiar roof And principles that I hold dear Would be the kindred proof A cousin fourteen times removed From daughters of my own With bloodline that to me has proved A link to the unknown Would come into my warm embrace Just as a loving child And I would see my mother’s face In shadows of her smile Through ages past, a life long gone Still we are bound in part To family which we both belong Like sisters of the heart Our family roots can’t be denied Nor changed within a name The heritage that is our pride Flows ever in the vein Elizabeth Santos |

Lady Santos...how true this is....some years back, going through boxes of VERY old photos, I pulled out one of a graceful, lovely lady....the spitting image of my step-daughter.... lovely...thank you for this.... |
