Listening to every heart

Even When the Sun is Gone

somewhere, there are gray skies
leaden down with rain
but I know that the sun is around
and it will peek out once again

somewhere, there are clouds of white
rushing through on high
and a little bit of sunshine
peeks down from the sky

somewhere, buildings will cast
shadows on the crowd below
but a simple ray of sunshine
lifts their spirits so

somewhere, one is in a room replete
with no windows, shades are drawn
where one feels so incomplete
their only hope, the coming dawn

just know, even if the sun doesn't seem
to be casting down its lighted beams
the sun can still be there with you
in what you think, in what you do

if you are one, who lives without the sun
for a day, or two, just know in your heart
that words can act like beaming rays
with good reading the shadows depart

so find joy in your write, and all that you are
find special ways to impart it, like shining stars

Karilea
If I whisper, will you listen?...
I would rather be silent and write, than speak loudly and be bound.

"somewhere, buildings will cast"
"shadows on the crowds below"
"but a simple ray of sunshine"
"lifts their spirits so."

Sunshine this was simply beautifully written. If buildings are casting shadows somewhere on the crowds below, if you are ever amongst them, they will have their ray of sunshine to lift their spirits and their hopes.::

I thought your poem was beautifully written. the first few lines seems to remind me of something i'm struggling with right now.
My heart is leaden down with rain and I know the sun is around the corner and will peek out once again.
You write beautifully. keep it up

Sunshine, you offer hope in your poem, it's just beautiful.I always try to focus on the sun when cloudy days come, and it does work wonders.Sometimes nagativity sips through my poems, but at least I don't keep it inside. Thanks again, for you encouraging message.

A quarter of a century must pass, for the writer to understand what and why he writes.

Sunshine,

Very uplifting and comforting thoughts here. Wonderful writing. I enjoyed this a lot.

Do you all know how wonderful it was to have been gone almost a full three days...and come home to find this little poem still on page 1?

Thank you all....Sun is back....she was shining ALL day long in Kansas....and I have to admit....it was cloudy and gray when I left, fog and cover the entire weekend I was at seminar....but once let loose to come back to my poetry, the clouds lifted and the sun was warming the early, early growth of spring promises....

thank you ALL so very much for enjoying this little poem in my absence...

and for your very, very special messages!

Sunshine, very nice... it was a ray of light to read. a bit of star light for my day, a single beam of happiness, and a wonderful warmth of Sunshine.
