Under the stars upon the wind

0 posted 2001-02-22 02:08 PM

On a table made of stone
sat the time capsule all alone.
for the table could bare no more,
for in the sand that did seep was
all the memories for which I weep..

All the times we held hands,
and watched the waves crash upon the sands..

For all the dreams on which we toasted,
and later to my friends I merely boasted..

Cookies in the shape of hearts,
baked in the warmth that was between us from the start..

But as our hands soon drew cold.
The waves dragged the sand to
the ocean's deepths to hold...

The glasses were set empty on the table.
I gave up friends to tune into cable.

But now the cookies wouldn't rise,
the heat cooled by open despise.

For from the start there was an end
just hidden cleverly behind the road's bend.

I do not hate the one for which I loved but lost
But love the one for which I shared all the times full of care.

The flower of my heart shall not wilt
at this mere wintery bend..
But shall wait for the summer
which shall begin but not end...

Very wonderful read. I really enjoyed the heart in it and the way it all seems to hold a promise of full circle.

Just beautiful, it takes us from the beginning to the end of a love story, yet written with love, no grudges. Funny that's what real love should be. You can never hate the person even after it ends. Love it!

A quarter of a century must pass, for the writer to understand what and why he writes.

I love the images that you've used here. . . there are a lot of them, but that's what makes this wonderful to read. . . it's like being in a dream, remembering all of the things that made this love something to remember. . . even in loss. . .

this is excellent for your first love poem. . . you should definitely write more. . . just listen to your heart, and the words will come. . .
