(Perceptions of hillside living in Southern California) I used to be King that that mountain Lord of all I surveyed And the Land and I were One Then transient Life intervened Whisked was I away by maelstrom Called Parental Love & Guidance After many years my mountain I saw Sculpted and carved with Slipstream housing looking down at me My mountain looking down Poot snoots sneering down noses At me, even when on their heads And I have naught save miscreantal past An over-toothy impish grin Slingshot and bag of marbles Now the time to lay siege to my Erstwhile mal-formed mountain To reap the whirlwind of my deeds Alicat “It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.” Charles Darwin |

Ah Ali, you brought back some wonderful memories of trips up and down 101....thank you for that....there are times I miss California....but I would only want to go back if you could bring back the late 50's and early 60's again....Bob's Big Boy...the huge Donut....and some of the prettiest times to drive into LA would be coming in late at night, just coming over the hill, and jewels laid before us at our feet below.... ah yes, good memories Ali....thank you.... |

Poot snoots sneering down noses At me, even when on their heads those could be two of the greatest descriptive lines I have ever seen in a poem. I love it!!! |

Your perceptions are always excellent. . . ------------------------------------------------------- To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |

Put the sling-shot down... You know? You tell me I've grown so much as a writer, and if I really have grown...it's because I've spent time knowing you, and learning from you as a writer. Your imagination astounds me at times. |
