A Completely Sarcastic rant at myself. ================================== From an early age… We are schooled in self pity, gardening other's imposed sympathy. Nursing our worlds into states of Misery So we can all take centre stage in the Tragedy. We can better digest through the grimness rain, for the whitest smile is more fleeting than pain. The tortured artist…what a cliché Help me I have become a parody Of something I can't recognise Some things were not made for my eyes. Let the light pierce the monochrome, Kick down the doors and escape from home, Laugh off my angst-ridden head, I have eaten myself to almost be dead…. Not much seems to touch me, but what does remains eternally. So now I choose with caution looking for peace not confusion. ======================= Written following the last (self pity) post called "Saturday", started off with potential then went all drama. There's a feeling of contentment Now that you are here I feel satisfied I belong inside Your velvet heaven" Depeche mode [This message has been edited by brian madden (edited 02-18-2001).] |

"gardening others imposed sympathy" I really like that truth...great write Brian.....lots to consider in this one! The poet is like a cocoon; in him the caterpillar of the past finds rest, and from him the butterfly of the future emerges. |

Brian, Haven't seen you around for a while, but I haven't been here much either. I don't why but this poem reminds of a story called the insatiable mouth. Anyway it had some deep words in it and it was real to me. Write on Kethry Those of us who refuse to risk and grow get swallowed up by life. Patty Hansen. |

I dare say, I like it. Would that make me a "tortured reader"? We are in the same boat, with the writing part! |

WHY does the thought "quit eating on yourself, feed others..." come to mind? Too much Hannibal in the news I imagine.... I so like to see your name on these pages....but I'll have to library this for future reading because I'm sure I'm missing something.... |

Sacred Holy To put it in words To write it down That is walking on hollowed ground But it's my duty I'm a missionary. ~Sacred~ DepecheMode *********** We're living in a world full of illusion Everything is so unreal My mind is in a state of confusion But I can't deny the way I feel ~Surrender~ DepecheMode ************ You blew me away with this one Bri... I dont know which is more impressive ... the write itself .. which has so many awesome lines and images (and you know I LOVE when YOU rhyme) or the INTENSE DEPTH of emote and purge this comes from ... When you rant ... it rocks ... and NOTHING cliche' EVER comes from you pen my poetic prophet .. (but I so relate to the feeling) the emotional honesty and souls confession and the impact of those last three verses took my breath and tugged at my heart. awesome write Bri, dont be so hard on your self baby... love the new pic...those gorgeous eyes ... they see all later-wise poet-gator love ya eve As sure as God made wine you can't wrap your arms around a memory In the dark for me youre the candle flame that flickers to life ~Mission UK~ |

Actually, there's an attempt to school us out of self-pity, but it seems we always give in to 'survival techniques.' From infancy we are the WORLD! Slowly we are taught to notice the world around us and its needs as well. Little by little, our universe is stretched. I think often like a rubber band, and it keeps snapping back when there's something we want and someone/s try/ies to keep us from getting it. Interesting piece, thought provoking! Enjoyed the 2nd read through even more than the 1st. |
