Well, I'm back from a lovely vacation, and though I'd hoped to write a plethora of poems ... this was the only one I wrote while away, and even this was on my last day, as a thank you to the ship's crew .... I'm happy to be back though ... I've missed you guys!  In Tribute to ms Zaandam, Her Captain, and Crew She sails the oceans wide and deep, Past shores of moonlit sky, A wondrous course in mem'ries keep, As hearts and spirits fly. She settles in to port of call, Arising from the mist, In splendid grandeur, towers all, To those within her midst. The graceful ship of mighty girth, Enriched in opulence, Belittles towns at rest in berth, Bedecked with elegance. Through shadows 'neath her crow's nest high, A 'top a nether world, Quaint tropic ports lie dwarfed in tide, As fantasies unfurl. Within her massive, grand expanse, Lie youthful, vibrant dreams, Where old and young breathe sweet romance, In life of splendid means. While anchors rise and docks rescind, She glides toward the sea, Empowered by the dreams within, A 'drift in revelry. While windswept currents urge her on, She sails the tropic breeze, Beyond the lands from where 'twas born, Amidst expansive seas. Alive and free, she courses on, To sail the ocean blue, Maneuvered by the winds of song, Her passage strong and true. /Kit McCallum [This message has been edited by Kit McCallum (edited 02-16-2001).] |

While windswept currents urge her on, She sails the tropic breeze, Beyond the lands from where 'twas born, Amidst expansive seas. Alive and free, she courses on, To sail the ocean blue, Maneuvered by the winds of song, Her passage strong and true. =============== the waves of sea rocking the boat had no ill effects on your melody of candence ... this is a delight to read aloud welcome home sweet sailor  your smiling face has been missed As sure as God made wine you can't wrap your arms around a memory In the dark for me youre the candle flame that flickers to life ~Mission UK~ |

Hey fellow Canuck this is great writing! It's just exactly as you've always been...and I love your sweet delightful tales they intrigue me so much....so good to read one of yours! The poet is like a cocoon; in him the caterpillar of the past finds rest, and from him the butterfly of the future emerges. |

Why is it that I believe we will be treated to more poems inspired by your vacation? WELCOME BACK my friend and YES you were missed bunches. So wonderful to read one of your poems again and I will let you rest up a bit before offering you your next challenge but you can bet it will be one to stretch your talents as they seem to have no boundaries anyway. Or maybe it is just YOU that is so capable of placing yourself on whatever plateau you wish. The poem btw was constructed wonderfully and carried with it a wonderful rhythm and it spoke in high praise to your good fortune of a wonderful vacation shared with some wonderful people it seems. |

Oh yes ... THIS is why coming "home" is so lovely! ~Sharon: Thank you Sharon ... and the answers are Yes, Yes and Yes! LOL ... it was wonderful, and a perfect day of parasailing at the end to top it off ... wait till you see the pics ... 500 feet high I was, and flying with the wind! ~Elizabeth: I hope so Elizabeth ... and funny thing is ... I "tried" to write several times, but just couldn't seem to get the words out during the trip. I imagine more will surface soon though ... me thinks my muse took her own vacation, ROFL! ~Balladeer: And the feeling returns equally to you my 'deer ... I searched you out as soon as I returned ... and your "addictive" topic was a perfect homecoming read for this poetically starved mind! I'm rested up, relaxed and ready for the next duet whenever you are! Thank you for the warm welcome home! ~Janet Marie: Thank you so much sweet gator gal ... and btw ... the rocking of the boat was "really" rocky ... 13 foots waves for most of the trip, even the pool was sloshing over the decks, LOL ... it's great to be home though! ~Laryalee: It was my pleasure Laryalee, and thank you for the lovely words! It was a once in a lifetime, and so much fun, but there's always something wonderful to be said for "coming home" ... ~Ethome: And this fellow Canuk thanks ye kindly! So many tales to tell, and no idea where to begin ... ahhhh, but there's the fun of it ... never knowing what will come out of the inkwell next, lol. It really was a lovely time, and filled with some memorable characters and times. I'll see if my muse returns from her vacation and decides to write about a few, LOL .... and I eagerly await any challenge you send my way dear friend, maybe that will bring my finicky muse back!
