Dreams Of Innocence

~~*~~

Born witness
to the breath of life
each child
is but a finger of God
touching the perils
of man's selfishness
and encompassing
the dreams
that will become the key
to a future
of either love or hate.

Blossoming
from the surroundings
in which
the child is to endure
and nurtured
only by the souls
that have the power
to teach
and to guide
the child to the path
of which these dreams
will either live or die.

The choices to be made
are many
and the teachings
are the lessons
that will one day
be shared
in this child's
view of the world.

Don't take these dreams
and twist them away
from the innocents
of this world.....
hold them
as if they are your own
and find a path
to your dreams
through the insight
you will leave
within the heart
and soul of this child.

They are the future
They are the hope
They are the reason
that we ourselves
may still have a right
to dream of the day
when peace
is once more found.

Great write, Mark...how many of us just overlook those who are our future...and we often forget what impact we have on such 'absorbing' minds...wonderfully written, m'friend!

Mark,
The dreams of a child are priceless, and that innocence is a gift from God. We must always carry those dreams, even as an adult. A touching and beautiful masterpiece..

Oh, Mark, I hope I remember that I to am responsable for what I say and do for a child. You are so right, their minds are like a sponge and right or wrong they absorb everything! Wonderful writing.

First, your free verse is wonderful, but the message is sterling. What a beautiful way to express the innocence and how it should be cherished and protected, instead of
exploited. Thank you for this one.

Such good stuff here, Mark! Well said! Our children are so important. How do we help them believe that of themselves without tainting what God has raised up.

Seymour-Thank you kind sir. I appreciate it.

Kris-Yes, they do tend to absorb all the see and hear don't they? Thank you much my friend.

ethome-Nothing more be said my friend other than I thank you for stopping by.

Steph-Thank you much. I am glad it touched you and btw........COOL signature!!!!

Daniel-I am glad you think so and I will maybe get there oneday. Thanks much.

Elise-Maybe that is why I refuse to grow up in some areas of my life. Thank you kindly.

ME-I am sure you will always remember. I am glad you enjoyed the read and I thank you dearly.

JM-Now don't ya just wish the whole darn thing would have come up? I guess ONE more poem of dreams is in order......must be meant to be somewhere in time anyway. I am glad that you see so much in this one and without your words of encouragement I don't know if I would have posted it on it's own. Thank you dearly sweet friend.

Karilea-EXACTLY right. Thank you so much for you always kind words.

Holly-You mean there are people listening??? Thank you lovely butterfly. I am glad you enjoyed it.

Koko-From the heart of God to the hands of man.......thank you very much.

James-Thank you kind sir. I am not always comfortable in free verse but I glad you enjoyed it.

Kathleen-It is I who thank you for seeing it as it truely is and I do thank you kindly.

Sandra-For you to pass it on to your daughter is a great honor to me and I truely thank you for that and your kind words my friend.

Marge-Thank you my dear friend. I am enjoying reacing in too and if I am special at all it is only because friends like you make me seem so. Thank you much and if I made you smile then I have made a step to where I belong in life.

Virginia-If we teach them of God and live in the words of God at the same time...then I am sure most of it will rub off. All we can do is give it our best shot because they deserve nothing less and we must always do it with the love and passion that only caring parents can do. Thank you much.

Ruth-It is a prayer and I thank you for seeing that. I too hope it is heeded. Thank you dearly.

Coco-No there isn't and we all need to let them know that and encourage it. After all......it is through them that we live in the future is it not? Thank you my kind friend. I am glad you felt it so strongly.

Amy-If it reached you enough to bring tears to your eyes then I know you felt it's meaning and I thank you much for sharing that with me.

jellybeans-We all make mistakes but the trick is to NOT GIVE UP and to LEARN from them. Thank you very much.

JM-Now I would have never thought you of all people would try to rub something in and whether I see it or not doesn't matter as long as others do right? You know what I mean anyway. Thanks again my friend.

OLIAS-You too have a great talent and I thank you kindly.

Corinne-I'll take the caring and do my best but wise I can't pretend to be. Thank you much never-the-less for the kind words.

Martie-Yes they are my friend and through all the innocence it is shared yet we adults often find so many ways to steal that away and never look back. Thank you kindly my friend.

Dee-You are and you do. Don't ever doubt that. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
