Can we call this love Can it be We've never touched Perhaps never will What have we Words on pages Conversations on screens Some phrases on wires Can we call this friendship Separated as we are You could have died Yesterday Or last week You could already be buried I wouldn't know Or It could have been me Yet As you fill my thoughts I need no nicotine Or caffeine No drugs I wake up smiling Since I've known you Life is better Despite being worse I've found sunshine On cloudy days Warmth in winter's chill winds In this tenuous relationship I can't deny the changes in me: I compare and contrast In my twenties I'd drive by her house At midnight In my thirties I volunteered To change diapers To clean house In my forties Bought flowers For no occasion Today I sleep naked And dream of you Say prayers Light candles Smell you in the shower So - If we never do meet What do we call us Great souls have wills; feeble ones have only wishes. ~ Chinese Proverb ~ |

Wilfred, your poem unfolds a most captivating story. Thank you for it. Claire Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |

Can we call this love Can it be We've never touched Perhaps never will What have we Words on pages Conversations on screens Some phrases on wires ===================== Today I sleep naked And dream of you Say prayers Light candles Smell you in the shower So - If we never do meet What do we call us ================ I call it my 3 am ache ... oh my poet of wise ... you have asked THE one most constant question of this world of cyber-love ... one I have pondered many a day ...and nite some days I call it Heaven ... some days Hell ... some tell us its all fantasy ... a pretty blue flame glowing on the screen .. us moths sometimes fly too close. anyway....ya got me ramblin LOL I really love this poem. Where the touch of the lover ends And the soul of the friend begins There's a need to be separate and a need to be one And a struggle neither wins |

Bill - I like this extremely well! What a beautiful way to describe such a relationship! I agree with Sven - kindred spirits, yes. That tells it all. I think many can relate to this, and you have written it so meticulously, and with such emotion. You are a rare writer, my friend. Full of talent, and one I hunt for when I visit here. Thank you for sharing your wonderful work here. |

Bill--So that brings us to the question, what is love? And the answer has been pondered since time began...and with as many varied answers as grains of sand...people touch each others lives...and this is a good thing...maybe it doesn't need a name. Loved the poem, by the way. |

Does it need a name? Its real and thats all that matters isnt it? What does it matter you've not touched her face, or tasted her kiss? What matters is you've touched each others hearts and isnt that what love is all about? |

Oh, yes! Call it love. Definitely sounds real to me. To love another person is to see the face of God. - Les Miserables Marilyn |

You've captured well the feelings of hearts touching across the miles... both the fears and the fantasies. *S* Well done! (As for what title is appropriate... isn't it ironic that a relationship built on words lacks words to describe itself? *S*) |
