The Pain of The Trees--The Pain of Me |

Naked, withered, and peeling limbs Tear holes through lazy cotton clouds As winter drifts in a blue-gray monotone Through this sordid landscape... The silence carves hollows in me, The quiet broken only when Branches collide, shrieking as their gnarled skin Is ripped from them in violent strips. Dusk slips over the ashen sky Quickly pulling night between me And the shivering, softly crying forest I am now utterly alone For the acute pain of the trees Is the only thing keeping me from falling Away from myself. Oh God, please deliver me to the day Where spring breathes in lemon rays And where my soul doesn’t seem foreign, An invader unattached...separate from me... God, let the pain of the forest cease, Allow me and this frozen wood To exhale the dark and to simply be Alive once more. "Every man dies. Not every man lives." -Tim Robbins |

"The silence carves hollows in me..." Okay...grinning here, there must be some kind of "tree" synchronicity going on here. You are the FOURTH person within a week that I have found understands the language of trees. Just perfectly beautiful. And? We are thinking of starting a club...you are MOST welcome. and? WELCOME to the forum! gonna send this url to the other friends in our forest, okay? |

SunLitSoul~ Beautiful ! Beautiful ! Beautiful ! The imagery is outstanding. I can hear the pain of the tree branches - and feel the kinship of your emotions. We are all ready for the Spring ! Enjoyed the read so much. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Reminds me of the nights I use to sleep in graveyards in or under the giant trees growing around the headstones... I always gained strength and comfort and heavy collection of thoughts from those nights... This was beautiful, Sunlit... I am proud to have you inducted into our tree circle. Karen, we DO need to form a club... ~Beth |

Breathlessly wonderful really - that's what comes to mind. Nice to have you at passions.. K - it was not an unmusical sound: long, falling, half a sigh, like wind in the wires, or a train distancing. The Muse of Distance, A. Williamson |

I've had a couple of people tell me I have a similar style to a few people here...I shall have to find some of their work. Severn- Thank you! Sven- Thank you also! "Every man dies.
